SEO and GEO: being visible on Google and in AI answers for a B2B company

Your prospects can look for suppliers in two ways: in a search engine and by asking an AI assistant. SEO works in the first, GEO in the second. Here is what they share, what sets them apart and where to start.

SEO: being found in search results

SEO combines three workstreams: site technique (accessible pages, clear structure, speed), content (pages and articles that answer buyers' real questions) and reputation (links and mentions from other sites). Results build over time and are measured with precise indicators: indexed pages, queries, clicks.

GEO: being cited in AI answers

An AI assistant builds its answer from sources it judges reliable and clear. To be picked up, a site benefits from publishing direct answers to buyers' questions, sharp definitions, factual and current information (offers, terms, scope) and well-structured pages. Mentions of your company on other serious sites also strengthen its credibility. The rules of these systems change and are not public: be wary of any promise of citation.

What the two have in common

Precise content that answers a real question, a site that is easy to read for a human and for a machine, consistent information from one page to the next and a verifiable reputation. Working on one usually advances the other, so there is no need to set them against each other.

Where to start

Start with a visibility audit: which pages are indexed, which queries you appear on, what AI assistants answer when asked about your field. Then fix the technical basics, publish content regularly that answers your buyers' questions, and look after the links and mentions pointing to your site. Measure before concluding, over several weeks.

Mooniz offers an SEO/GEO plan: visibility audit, site optimization and article publishing. The details of the offer and its terms are in the Mooniz SEO/GEO offer section.

Do SEO and GEO replace direct prospecting?
No: they attract prospects who are looking for you, while prospecting reaches those who do not know you yet. The two channels complement each other.
How long before you see results?
It depends in the site, the market and the competition. It is work of several weeks to several months, measured in stages. No timeframe can be guaranteed.

For Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, SEO fundamentals still apply: no special optimization or extra AI file is required. A page must be indexed and eligible for a search snippet to qualify, without any guarantee of appearing. Source: Google Search Central documentation on AI features.
