Data enrichment: the foundation of profitable prospecting
· Data · 5 min
At Mooniz, we often say that data quality accounts for 80% of the results of a campaign. A brilliant sequence sent to a poorly qualified database will generate little. The right sequence sent to an ultra-targeted, enriched database generates meetings. Data enrichment is not an option—it’s the foundation of any profitable prospecting.
1. What is data enrichment?
Data enrichment means completing and validating the information about a contact or a company using multiple sources. From a name and an email domain, you can obtain: the exact job title, the direct phone number, the LinkedIn profile, company size, the technologies used, and even recent buying signals.
2. Key enrichment sources
The tools we use at Mooniz: Apollo.io (B2B database + email verification), Pharow (specialized in the French market), Dropcontact (RGPD-compliant enrichment for emails), Hunter.io (email discovery and verification), and LinkedIn Sales Navigator (real-time job data). For each campaign, we cross-reference at least 2 sources.
3. Email verification: a non-negotiable step
Before every send, the entire database goes through an email verification tool (NeverBounce or ZeroBounce). Key statuses to remember: "valid" (send), "catch-all" (send with caution), "invalid" (remove absolutely). A high bounce rate damages your domain reputation and can lead to being blacklisted.
4. Regular database updates
B2B data becomes outdated quickly. On average, 30% of the data in a database changes within a year (job changes, new companies, closures). Plan quarterly cleaning cycles for your active databases. Job-change signals on LinkedIn are especially valuable: a contact who has just changed roles is in a reconfiguration phase—an ideal time to reach out again.
Measurable results: the impact of enrichment for our clients
A database of non-enriched contacts often contains invalid addresses. After cleaning and full enrichment (verified emails, direct numbers, exact titles), the bounce rate drops and the open rate improves. Takeaway: a properly enriched database delivers better results than the raw database. It’s the invisible step that companies underestimate the most.
Investing in data quality means investing in the profitability of your prospecting. The companies that generate the most qualified meetings aren’t the ones that send the most—they’re the ones that reach the right decision-makers, with the right information, at the right time.
